WICHITA, Kan. – Hinkle Elkouri member Michael D. Herd is the incoming elected president of the Wichita Bar Association. His term will begin on July 1, 2008 and he will officiate until June 30, 2009. Herd is a fourth-generation lawyer and represents various clients and companies in day-to-day business operations. He also assists with acquisition, development, sale and exchange, financing and leasing of residential, commercial, agricultural, industrial and multifamily properties.

The Wichita Bar Association is managed by a Board of Governors that meets monthly to set policy and review issues affecting the legal profession. Herd has been an active member of the Wichita Bar Association. He has served as Chair of the Service to the Bar Committee since 2002. He’s also served on several other committees for many years, including the Board of Governors, Building, Awards, Fee Dispute and Ethics committees. For the past two years, he has also served on the Executive Committee, in keeping with his title of vice president (2006-07 term) and president-elect (2007-08 term).

“I am flattered that the Wichita Bar Association has entrusted me with this position of leadership,” said Herd. “My plan is to focus on the priorities of the membership.”
