TOPEKA, Kan. – The Kansas Chamber of Commerce has released the 2008 versions of the Kansas Human Resources Manual and the Model Policies and Forms for Kansas Employers. Both manuals were written by the attorneys at the Wichita-based Hinkle Law Firm LLC.

“In recent years, many legislative amendments and court decisions have forced Kansas employers to re-evaluate their current policies and employment practices,” said James C. Spencer, editor and contributing author of both handbooks and attorney at Hinkle. “Because of these constant changes, a practical and comprehensive legal reference guide is critical for every employer and human resources manager.”

Terry Leatherman, vice president of Public Affairs at the Kansas Chamber added, “It’s often hard to know which laws are applicable, how to find them, and most important, what they mean to an employer. This is a concise and easy-to-use resource that everyone can navigate.”

The Kansas Human Resources Manual covers important workplace issues, such as how to avoid and respond to claims of discrimination, required health and safety regulations, and lawful discipline and termination procedures. The Model Policies and Forms for Kansas Employers provides the employer with more than 100 forms and model policies and comes with a CD-ROM which allows the user to personalize and print policies, taking the effort out of creating employee handbooks, new employee paperwork, and termination and resignation documents.

Each guide also contains a detailed table of contents, informative topic headings within each chapter, and a thoroughly cross-referenced index. The set is priced at $159 for Kansas Chamber members and is available to order by calling 866-439-2227. A full chapter from each book is available at the publisher’s Web site.
