Peter Collins is Of Counsel in Hinkle Law Firm’s Litigation Department, where he represents clients in complex civil litigation, product liability, healthcare, construction, and commercial disputes. Since joining the firm in 2011, he has built a distinguished litigation practice representing clients in high-stakes matters across a broad range of industries.
Over more than three decades of practice, Peter has tried numerous cases in state and federal courts and represented parties in multimillion-dollar arbitrations. After spending the first part of his career concentrating primarily on medical malpractice defense, Peter expanded his practice to include transportation litigation, product liability, toxic torts, and chemical exposure litigation. He has served as national coordinating counsel for a leading food flavorings manufacturer in litigation involving alleged industrial exposure to flavoring ingredients.
Peter is widely recognized for his work in product liability litigation and has been selected to Super Lawyers in product liability defense every year since 2016. He regularly represents manufacturers in complex litigation and toxic tort litigation nationwide.
In addition, Peter has represented commercial real estate developers in a broad range of litigation matters, including complex tort claims. He also has significant experience defending construction defect cases involving allegations of negligent project management, design and construction deficiencies, and claims against subcontractors across virtually every construction trade.
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Peter earned his Bachelor of Arts, with honors, from the University of Kansas and his Juris Doctor, with honors, from Drake University Law School. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel and is a frequent presenter at continuing legal education programs and regularly speaks on civil procedure, deposition strategy, trial preparation, and jury selection.
