Christopher J. Lucas is a seasoned trial attorney with more than two decades of litigation experience across Missouri and Kansas. His practice centers on complex civil litigation, with a focus on personal injury, medical malpractice defense, insurance defense, and healthcare-related matters. As an Of Counsel attorney, Chris defends clients in high-stakes personal injury and premises liability cases.

Before joining Hinkle, Chris spent over 15 years in private practice, where he led the defense of physicians, hospitals, and healthcare providers in litigation and licensing investigations. He has significant experience navigating healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act, and has argued matters at both the trial and appellate levels.

Chris began his legal career as a judicial clerk at the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Honorable Edwin H. Smith. He went on to gain valuable trial experience, handling a range of cases including nursing home defense and commercial litigation. His courtroom acumen is reflected in a long list of jury and bench trials, many of which involved high-complexity medical malpractice matters.

Chris earned his J.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he contributed to the Missouri Environmental Law & Policy Review, and studied abroad through the London Law Consortium. He holds a B.A. in History, magna cum laude, from Truman State University. Active in his profession and community, Chris has presented to medical professionals on litigation risk and has raised money for charitable causes through endurance cycling events.
