As the leader of Hinkle Law Firm LLC’s Product Liability and Complex Tort Litigation practice group, Scott focuses his practice on representing clients in matters involving product liability, commercial disputes, mass torts, and construction defects. With more than 25 years of litigation experience, Scott has additionally represented clients in matters involving will and trust disputes, medical malpractice, insurance coverage, and other complex litigation.

A substantial portion of Scott’s practice involves direct client representation of manufacturers and distributors of consumer products and industrial machinery on a national basis. Scott has represented corporate clients in more than 35 states. He also counsels his manufacturing clients regarding claims handling and risk management.

Scott has vast mediation, arbitration, and trial experience. He has successfully obtained defense verdicts for his clients in cases involving substantial property damage, catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death. Scott was trial counsel in the successful defense of Weider Nutrition International, Inc., in Garrett v. Weider. This product liability case involved a dietary supplement manufactured by Weider known as “Ripped Force,” which contained ephedra. Garrett was only the second case involving the manufacture of a dietary supplement containing ephedra to reach trial in the United States and the first successful verdict for a manufacturer of such a product.

Scott is a member of the Wichita, Kansas, and American Bar Associations, as well as a member of the Defense Research Institute and ALFA.
