Mr. Burris has nearly 3 decades of legal experience, including 14 years as in-house counsel for both public and private companies. Brian joined our firm after serving as Vice-President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for ICM, Inc., an engineering, procurement and construction firm focusing on the biofuels sector, for more than a decade.

During his time in-house, Brian oversaw all legal matters including strategic decisions and risk mitigation, strategic alliances and joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate financing, contracts, intellectual property rights, regulatory compliance and corporate governance. He also managed legal transactions in more than 40 countries worldwide and helped lead the commercialization of ICM’s proprietary process and technology in Europe, Africa and South America.

Prior to his time in-house, Brian worked as a partner at a regional law firm and developed a business practice for a diverse clientele focusing on transactional work and business planning, including mergers and acquisitions, commercial lending, joint ventures and partnerships, real estate, construction, leasing and corporate finance, franchising and distributorships, intellectual property, aviation law and employment law.

His current practice focuses on:

• Aviation Law;
• Banking and Finance;
• Construction and Engineering Law;
• Corporate Law and Business Planning;
• Franchise and Distributorships;
• Employment Law;
• Intellectual Property Law;
• International Law;
• Manufacturing;
• Real Estate; and
• Renewable Energy.

Brian’s considerable experience makes him a valuable advisor to boards of directors, executive leadership teams and shareholders, and he can complement existing in-house counsel in a variety of matters. Additionally, his experience also allows him to act effectively as outside general counsel for his clients on a cost effective basis.
