COVID-inspired changes to Health FSAs & DCAPs – Grace Periods, Carryovers, Annual Limit Increases, Election Changes and More (Oh, my!)
- COVID-inspired changes to Health FSAs & DCAPs
June 17, 2021
11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Many times when working with our clients we are asked, “What is Hinkle’s take on…?” To help answer some of these questions, we have developed a four-part webinar series to address many new and changing issues and provide our “quick take.” The last in our series covers Health FSAs & DCAPs.
Both Congress and federal regulatory agencies have been abuzz with recently activity impacting employee welfare benefit plans. The statutory and regulatory changes are so numerous that it can be dizzying to think about. This session is designed to bring some order to the chaos and will focus on changes impacting Health Flexible Spending Accounts (HFSAs) and Dependent Care Assistance Plans (DCAPs). In particular, we will cover grace periods, carryovers, DCAP annual limit and age changes, new election change options, and an array of other items stemming from the COVID relief legislation. For employees, this may mean greater flexibility and less forfeitures. But for employers, this may mean administrative hassle, plan amendments and new deadlines. In this one-hour webinar session, attorneys Ruhe C. Wadud and Bradley J. Schlozman will explain the legal developments, walk through specific examples, and highlight the pros and cons to consider when determining whether to make these changes.
- Attendees will understand what the new temporary options related to Health FSAs and DCAPs are
- Attendees will be able to analyze whether or not the options make business sense to pursue
- Attendees will understand the new deadlines if they elect to adopt these changes
