Mr. Schillings is a member of the firm’s product liability and complex tort litigation practice group. Prior to joining Hinkle Elkouri, he was a member of the law firm of Cozen O’Connor.
Scott has extensive litigation experience on behalf of defendants in personal injury, and civil litigation. While he spends a significant amount of his practice handling product liability matters, he has substantial experience in cases involving medical malpractice, mass torts, construction defects, and other complex litigation. He has defended numerous catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. Scott’s product liability practice includes direct client representation of manufacturers and distributors of consumer products and industrial machinery on a national basis.
Scott has vast mediation, arbitration, and trial experience. He was trial counsel in the successful defense of Weider Nutrition International, Inc., in Garrett v. Weider. This product liability case involved a dietary supplement manufactured by Weider known as “Ripped Force,” which contained ephedra. Garrett was only the second case involving the manufacture of a dietary supplement containing ephedra to reach trial in the United States and the first successful verdict for a manufacturer of such a product.
